India is on the cusp of an AI revolution, with the global market expected to grow from USD 189 billion in 2023 to over USD 4.8 trillion by 2033. The Indian AI market itself is projected to reach USD 28.8 billion by 2025, indicating a massive demand for AI professionals. According to the India Skills Report 2024 and India’s AI Revolution: A Roadmap to Viksit Bharat, the country needs nearly one million AI professionals by 2026.
To bridge this gap, the Maharashtra Government’s Skill Development Department has certified an institute, which has become a beacon of hope for tribal youth. The institute offers professional courses in Software Development, Web Development, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, making AI literacy accessible to all. Students learn AI tool usage, automation, data structuring, and content generation, equipping them to join the rapidly growing AI industry.
The Indian government is also recognizing the importance of AI in national security. A recent report by Nexgen Exhibitions highlighted that 86 per cent of respondents agree or strongly agree that India needs proactive government support in AI for national security. This underscores the need for government incentives and substantial investments in AI to strengthen cybersecurity and border security.
The story of India’s AI journey so far is one of rapid growth and increasing adoption. From its humble beginnings to becoming a significant player in the global AI market, India is poised to continue its upward trajectory. With free training for 10 lakh people, the country is taking a significant step towards harnessing the power of AI for its citizens.
